No. 12 OSU Softball Falls To No. 6 Oklahoma at KIA Tournament

FULLERTON, Calif. - - No. 12 Oregon State lost 9-0 to sixth-ranked Oklahoma on Thursday in their first game at the KIA Klassic Softball Tournament on the campus of Cal St.-Fullerton. The loss put an end to OSU's 12-game winning streak, which dated back to a Feb. 20 win over Virginia. The Beavers will face UNLV at 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Oregon State (18-5-1) fell behind early as Oklahoma (31-4) put together two triples and a homerun in their first three at-bats of the game to jump out in front 3-0. The Sooners added to their lead in the fifth inning, when they smacked two homeruns to go ahead 7-0 heading into the final inning.
The Beavers managed only three hits - one each from Shawna Feldt, Broooke Rutschman, and Tarrah Beyster - in the face of a strong performance by Oklahoma pitcher Jen Stewart (16-4). The Beavers advanced a runner to third base only twice on the day, once in the first inning and once in the sixth.
Tarrah Beyster (11-5) started the game for OSU and went five and 2/3innings, surrendering 16 hits and striking out two. Beyster came into the game with a 2.04 earned run average, while holding opponents to a .243 batting average.
Oklahoma got four homeruns on the day, two from Ash Barrett, who has 12 for the year.
