TUCSON, Ariz. - - Oregon State's Brie Del Bone shot a personal season-low of 70 to help the Beavers to a final-round score of 301 on Wednesday at the Arizona Invitational. OSU finished 16th in a field that included 16 top-30 teams. After an opening-round 313 - which put them in last place - OSU was much more competitive the next two days, shooting 295 and 301 for a total of 909.
"We had a good day," said OSU head coach Rise Lakowske. "That's in the ballpark of where we want to be," she said, in reference to the second and third-round scores.
Andrea Hehn shot 225 for the tournament after a final-round 76 on Wednesday to lead the Beavers and tie for 43rd overall. Hehn also had the low score for OSU with a 69 in Tuesday's second round.
Del Bone - playing in her first tournament for OSU after transferring from Nevada over winter break - finished at 226. Del Bone's round of 70 included six birdies and four bogies - good for 2-under on the par-72 Randolph Park Golf Club.
Anne Brooksby shot 234, and Reena Eklund 236 for Oregon State.
"I think it's a good indication that they're ready to start scoring in the range that we should," said Lakowske. "They did really well, and I think we're on the right track."
Duke's Beth Bauer took the individual honors by shooting a 5-under score of 211, narrowly beating out three players by one stroke. Bauer's score of 67 in the first round was the lowest of the tournament.
Second-ranked Arizona won the team competition by seven strokes, shooting a 7-under score of 857 over the three days.
