Beavers Shut Down By Oregon, 67-49

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - A.D. Smith scored 22 points to lead Oregon past rival Oregon State 67-49 in the Pacific-10 Conference opener for both teams.
Frederick Jones added 11 points for Oregon, including three 3-pointers in the first six minutes of the first half as the Ducks jumped out to a 21-4 lead. Freshman forward Brian Jackson finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds, but the Beavers were held without a field goal for a seven-minute stretch in the first half.
Oregon opened the game unstoppable from the 3-point line, connecting on six 3-pointers as the Ducks took a 37-16 lead into halftime. Smith scored eight of Oregon's first 11 points in the second half as the Ducks pushed their lead to 24 points at 48-24 with 12 minutes remaining.
The Beavers struggled offensively, making only 35 percent of their shots including only 2 of 13 from the 3-point line.
