CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Ryan Forehan-Kelly had 17 points and Sean Lampley and Brian Wethers each added 11 as California beat Oregon State 71-65 in Saturday's Pacific-10 men's basketball game Saturday afternoon.
California (10-6 overall, 1-3 Pac-10) ended a three-game losing streak, while Oregon State (8-6, 0-3) lost its third straight home game to start the conference season.
Forehan-Kelly, a sophomore forward, had 11 of his points in the first half, helping the Bears close what had been a nine-point Oregon State lead to just 33-31 at intermission.
After the teams were tied at 51, 53, 54 and 56, Lampley and Wethers gave Cal control of the game. With 3:13 left, the Bears' Shahar Gordon missed inside but Lampley soared down the lane to dunk the rebound for a 58-56 lead, he was fouled on the play but missed the free throw.
Cal had a 62-58 lead when the Bears' Shahar Gordon hit one of two free throws with 1:35 left. The Beavers turned the ball over at the other end, and OSU began fouling California.
The Bears put the game away by going 9-for-12 at the line down the stretch.
