Women's Golf In Fifth After First Day Of Rainbow Wahine Invitational

OAHU, HI - The Oregon State women's golf team finished the first day of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in fifth place at 625. The Beavers shot an impressive opening round 302 but follow with a 323 in the afternoon. The teams will play the final 18 holes of the tournament on Wednesday.
"We played very good round this morning, but the second round wasn't pretty," said Beaver Head Coach Rise Lakowski. "You just don't fall off the way we did. Normally, you improve as a tournament progresses, but that was not the case. The girls made ridiculous short games mistakes in the second round. The mental mistakes hammered us, maybe it was because this was their first time playing 36 rounds in one day, this season. The girls just didn't make adjustments quick enough."
Junior Anne Brooksby pace OSU with a two-round total of 154 to complete the day tied for 13th. Brooksby shot a first-round 1 over-par 73 and a second round 9-over-par 81. Carina Olsson is tied for 16th at 155, after shooting rounds of 75 and 80. The rest of the Oregon State team include Reena Eklund tied for 18th at 156, Rachel Borcherts tied for 43rd at 164 and Andea Hehn tied for 50th at 166.
"There's always tomorrow and I believe they can come back. We can make up for today in a hurry," said Lakowski.
