Schmidt begins his first year in the Athletic Communications department as a communications assistant after starting in August of 2016. He is the primary contact for the women’s soccer, women’s swimming and softball programs.
Prior to coming to Corvallis, Schmidt spent two years as the assistant athletic communications director at Southwest Minnesota State University. He was the main contact for the women’s soccer, volleyball, women’s basketball, wrestling, women’s tennis and softball programs. He was also secondary for the football program and oversaw the social media efforts for the athletic department. Schmidt accompanied the Mustang volleyball team who made their 11th and 12th consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, while also making it to the Elite Eight on its way to national runners-up for the first time in program history.
Schmidt started his career in athletic communications as an intern in the sports information department while studying as an undergraduate at Bethel University (Minn.). Out of the office, Schmidt was a four-year member and captain of the football team as an offensive tackle. During his senior season, he garnished All-American honors after helping the Royals to a 10-0 regular season and a MIAC Championship.
A native of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Jeff graduated from Bethel University in 2014 with a B.A. in communications and earned his MBA from Southwest Minnesota State University in 2016.
