Mik Berzins is in his first season as a graduate assistant coach with the Oregon State volleyball team.
Berzins comes to Oregon State after an All-American career at Ohio State from 2009-12. He’s the program’s all-time leader with 902 digs and is second in digs per set at 2.23.
A native of Brinklow, Md., he was named a third-team All-American in 2012 by Volleyball Magazine and was a first-team all-league selection after totaling 278 kills and 235 digs. The Buckeyes finished the season with a 21-9 record.
An outside hitter, he played in 114 career matches, seeing action in 404 sets. He averaged 1.21 kills per set (488 kills total) along with 100 assists, 25 service aces and 104 total blocks, including 16 solo.
Berzins helped guide Ohio State to a national title in 2011 and the Buckeyes reached the NCAA Final Four in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
In addition to 2012 all-conference honors, he was also named an all-league second-team selection in 2009.
Berzins earned a Bachelor of Science in Environment and Natural Resources from Ohio State in 2012. While at Oregon State, he will be pursuing a Masters of Public Policy concentrating in Environmental Policy.
