Dawn Shockley has led the Oregon State women’s golf team to the most success in program history during her first nine years as the head coach with six team titles, eight trips to postseason competition, and several team and individual records during that time.
The Beavers competed in a new conference – the WCC – during the 2024-25 season, but the program reached new heights and kept its postseason streak alive. Other accomplishments and accolades include:
The success continued once again in 2023-24 as Shockley led Oregon State back to the NCAA National Championships for the second-straight season. The only other time the Beavers made it to nationals in the first 47 years as a program was 1998. Other highlights from another memorable season:

The Beavers had another outstanding season in 2021-22 and were able to compete in postseason competition for the first time in three years. The 2020 regionals were canceled due to COVID-19 and the 2021 regionals were canceled due to inclement weather in Baton Rouge, La. Some of the highlights from the 2021-22 season:

Oregon State was the No. 7 seed in the 18-team field. Despite the disappointment of not being able to hit a shot in postseason competition, there were several highlights in 2020-21:
The 2019-20 season was canceled after two spring tournaments due to COVID-19, but the Beavers still had plenty of highlights during the shortened campaign. They won their second team title of the season in the final event before the cancellation, the Meadow Club Invitational. Other accomplishments and records include:

During Shockley’s first season as head coach in 2016-17, the Beavers had several records and highlights:
Shockley served as Oregon State’s assistant coach for two years before taking over as the head coach, and helped the Beavers set several school records and win a team title during that time.
During the 2015-16 season, Oregon State finished second at the Rose City Collegiate and third at the Bay Area Intercollegiate, while breaking the program’s scoring average record from the previous season with a 74.72. The team set the three-round school record with a 9-over 873 at the Rose City Collegiate and shattered it in the spring with a 4-over 868 at the Westbrook Spring Invitational.
Four golfers finished in the top-10 on Oregon State’s all-time single-season scoring average list, including Haley Nist, who set the school record with a 74.43, and Olivia Benzin, who had the best mark ever by a freshman with a 75.43.
Three student-athletes earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors, led by Ashlee Pickerell who was recognized for academic achievement by the conference for the third consecutive year. Sophomores Hannah Swanson and Nist both received Pac-12 All-Academic honors in their first eligible year.
In Shockley’s first season as an assistant coach (2014-15), the Beavers won the team title at the Oregon State Invitational, set the school record for season scoring average (75.00) and equaled their highest finish at the Pac-12 Championship since 1998 with an eighth-place showing.
Individually, Anica Yoo set the school’s single season scoring average record (74.71) and became just the second Oregon State golfer to advance to the NCAA National Championships after posting a school-record 4-under 212 at the NCAA Regionals with Shockley assisting her all three rounds.
Chelsea Saelee set the school record for a junior with a scoring average of 74.83 and Pickerell was selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team.
Oregon State’s women’s golf program finished runner-up for the Beaver Cup, which is a point system designed to reward teams for their GPA’s, community service hours, attendance at mandatory and non-mandatory life skills events and SAAC meetings.
During her playing career at the University of Denver, Shockley recorded 11 top-10 finishes, including two individual wins. A three-time Sun Belt All-Conference selection (2006, 2007 and 2009), she won the 2009 NCAA East Regional Championship and earned All-American Honorable Mention recognition.
Shockley helped lead Denver to sixth and fifth place finishes, respectively, at the NCAA Championships in 2007 and 2008.
She was a two-year team captain and posted a four-year scoring average of 75.67 for the Pioneers with 23 rounds under-par and five rounds in the 60’s. She also earned Academic All-American honors in 2006 and served on Denver’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Following her graduation from the University of Denver, Shockley played professional golf on the LPGA Futures Tour (Symetra Tour). She earned six top-10 finishes and tied for fourth at the Riviera Nayarit Classic and the Firekeepers Casino Hotel Championship.
In 2012 Shockley qualified for the Ladies European Tour (LET) and posted a career-best tie for 24th place finish at the Deloitte Ladies Open in Holland in 2013.
She also worked as a professional LPGA caddy for Becky Morgan and Moira Dunn for nearly two years. As a caddy, she assisted with course management, player management, post-round analysis, practice planning and swing maintenance.
A native of Denver, Colo., Shockley graduated from Denver in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in geography.

- Dawn Shockley was named the West Coast Conference Coach of the Year.
- Kyra Ly was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA); she is just the second Oregon State women’s golfer to earn All-America recognition, joining Kathleen Takaishi who received the honor in 1998.
- Kyra Ly was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year.
- Won two team titles – the WCC Championship and the Causeway Invitational – the 15th and 16th in program history.
- Shot an 11-under 853 at the Causeway Invitational, equaling the fifth-lowest three-round score in program history.
- Shot a 10-under 278 at the Causeway Invitational, equaling the second-lowest single-round score in program history.
- Kyra Ly won the individual title at the Causeway Invitational and Raya Nakao won the individual title at the WCC Championship.
- Kyra Ly had a scoring average of 71.88, the best in Oregon State single-season history and the best ever by a Beaver junior.
- Raya Nakao had a scoring average of 72.39, the fourth best in Oregon State single-season history and the best ever by a Beaver sophomore.
- Madde Sund had a scoring average of 73.78, the 14th best in Oregon State single-season history.
- Madde Sund made a hole-in-one in the final round of the Stanford Intercollegiate.
- Kyra Ly (5) and Raya Nakao (4) combined for nine Top 10 finishes.
- Kyra Ly broke three Oregon State records at the Causeway Invitational: best three-round score (16-under 200); best 36-hole score (13-under 131); best single-round score (7-under 65).
- Kyra Ly was selected WCC Golfer of the Month for February and Raya Nakao was named WCC Golfer of the Month for April; it’s the second and third time an Oregon State golfer has received a monthly honor from a conference (Ellie Slama, Pac-12 Golfer of the Month, October 2018).
- Rebecca Kim, Kyra Ly, Raya Nakao and Madde Sund were all selected to the 10-member West Coast Conference All-Academic Team.

- Kyra Ly won a share of the individual title at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational for her first collegiate win; she’s the 21st golfer in Oregon State history to win an individual title.
- Raya Nakao had a scoring average of 72.05, the best in Oregon State single-season history and the best ever by a Beaver freshman.
- Chayse Gomez had a scoring average of 72.31, the second best in Oregon State single-season history and the best by a senior in program history.
- Kyra Ly had a scoring average of 72.85, the sixth best in Oregon State single-season history.
- Kyra Ly was named Pac-12 Golfer of the Week on March 12 after winning a share of the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational.

- Advanced to the NCAA National Championships for the second time in program history (1998 was the other) and finished in a tie for 22nd place.
- Chayse Gomez advanced for an additional round of stroke play at the NCAA National Championships and finished in a tie for 10th place, the best-ever finish by an Oregon State women’s golfer at nationals.
- Chayse Gomez had a scoring average of 73.61, the seventh best in Oregon State single-season history. She had four Top 10 finishes, tied for the seventh most in Oregon State single-season history.
- Danique Stokmans had a scoring average of 74.27, the 13th best in Oregon State single-season history.
- Amanda Minni had a scoring average of 74.30 in 33 rounds, the 14th best in Oregon State single-season history.

- Ellie Slama (fifth, 73.19), Chayse Gomez (ninth, 73.96) and Kelsey Webster (10th, 74.04) all finished in the Top 10 on Oregon State’s single-season scoring average list.
- Ellie Slama earned All-Pac-12 recognition and concluded her remarkable career with the following Oregon State records: career scoring average (72.95), top-10 finishes in a season (7), lowest single-round score (6-under 66), lowest three-round score (11-under 205) and sub-par scores (46).
- Ellie Slama, Danique Stokmans, Madde Sund, Issy Taylor and Kelsey Webster were named All-American Scholars by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
- All eight student-athletes on the roster were named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.

- Four different golfers posted a top-10 finish during the season.
- Ellie Slama led the team with a scoring average of 72.72, the second best in Oregon State single-season history.
- Freshman Issy Taylor had a scoring average of 72.94, the fourth best in Oregon State single-season history.
- Freshman Chayse Gomez had a scoring average of 74.33, the eighth best in Oregon State single-season history.
- Nicole Schroeder tied the single-round school record with a 6-under 66 at the Cougar Cup.

- Finished No. 32 in the golfstat.com rankings, the highest finish in program history.
- Advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the third consecutive year; it was the first time making it three straight years since 1999-2000-2001.
- Set the program’s single-season scoring average record (73.18).
- Won the team title at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown; it was the 12th team title in program history.
- Recorded seven top-five finishes in the 11 tournaments.
- Equaled the lowest single-round score in program history with a 10-under 278 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
- Posted the best three-round score in program history with a 26-under 838 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown; the previous record was a 14-under 850 at the Westbrook Spring Invitational in the spring of 2018.
- Ellie Slama broke her own Oregon State’s single-season scoring average record (71.69).
- Ellie Slama broke the Oregon State single-season record with seven top-10 finishes.
- Olivia Benzin (73.56) broke Oregon State’s senior scoring average record and Nicole Schroeder (74.48) set the program’s junior scoring average record.
- Ellie Slama became the first Oregon State women’s golfer selected to the All-Pac-12 First Team and the first named Pac-12 Golfer of the Month.
- Ellie Slama (first, 71.69), Olivia Benzin (third, 73.56) and Nicole Schroeder (ninth, 74.48) all finished in the top 10 on Oregon State’s single-season scoring average list.
- Ellie Slama (twice) and Nicole Schroeder equaled the lowest under-par score in Oregon State history with a 6-under.
- Ellie Slama won the individual title at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
- Ellie Slama (first, 72.21), Olivia Benzin (second, 74.20), Nicole Schroeder (third, 74.73) and Susie Cavanagh (fifth, 75.27) are in the top five on Oregon State’s career scoring list (must have played 40 rounds and two full seasons to qualify).
- Olivia Benzin, Susie Cavanagh, Amanda Minni, Mari Nishiura, Nicole Schroeder and Ellie Slama all received Pac-12 All-Academic recognition; the six selections were the most of any school in the Pac-12 and the most in one year in the history of the program (the previous school record was four in 2010).

- Advanced to NCAA Regionals in back-to-back years for the first time since 2000-01.
- Set the program’s single-season scoring average record (73.52).
- Recorded five consecutive top-5 finishes during the spring season.
- Posted the best (-14, Westbrook Spring Invitational) and second best (-6, Ron Moore Invitational) three-round scores in program history.
- Ellie Slama broke Oregon State’s single-season scoring average record (72.79).
- Broke Oregon State’s senior (Susie Cavanagh 74.59), junior (Olivia Benzin 74.52) and freshman (Ellie Slama 72.79) single-season scoring average records.
- Ellie Slama (first, 72.79), Nicole Schroeder (third, 73.93), Olivia Benzin (fifth, 74.52) and Susie Cavanagh (seventh, 74.59) all finished in the top seven on Oregon State’s single-season scoring average list.
- Olivia Benzin and Nicole Schroeder both set Oregon State’s single-round record with a 6-under 66.
- Ellie Slama (Ron Moore Invitational) and Nicole Schroeder (NCAA Regionals) both won individual titles.
- Ellie Slama set Oregon State’s three-round record with an 11-under 205 at the Ron Moore Invitational.
- Nicole Schroeder became the fourth Oregon State golfer to advance to NCAA Championships after shooting a 10-under 206 at NCAA Regionals.
- Olivia Benzin (74.56) and Nicole Schroeder (74.85) are 1-2 on Oregon State’s career scoring average list (must have played 40 rounds and two full seasons to qualify).
- Olivia Benzin, Susie Cavanagh and Nicole Schroeder all received Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition.

- Placed seventh at the NCAA Regionals, the highest finish ever for the program, and ahead of seven ranked teams, including No. 2 UCLA.
- Shot a 10-under 278 in the final round of the NCAA Regionals, five strokes better than the previous school record.
- Set the school record for season scoring average (74.28).
- Won the title at the Rose City Collegiate, the 11th team title in program history.
- Recorded four top-five finishes.
- Defeated Oregon at the Elite 8 Match Play.
- Finished ahead of Oregon at the Pac-12 Championship to earn a point in the Civil War Series.
- Finished in eighth place at the Pac-12 Championship, equaling their best finish at the conference tournament since 1998.
- Olivia Benzin set the Oregon State single-season scoring average record with a 73.62.
- Elyse Smidinger set the Oregon State single-round record with a 5-under 67.
- Susie Cavanagh became the third Oregon State golfer to advance to the NCAA National Championships as an individual (Kathleen Takaishi, 1999 and Anica Yoo, 2015).
