Former Oregon State offensive center Kyle DeVan became a graduate assistant coach for the offense in the winter of 2013.
DeVan came to OSU after five seasons in the NFL, the last the 2012 campaign with the Tennessee Titans. He originally signed as a free agent in 2008 with the Washington Redskins before joining the New York Jets as a practice squad player. In the spring of 2009 he played for the Boise Burn of the AF2 before being signed by the Indianapolis Colts. He appeared in 31 games for the Colts, starting 21 times including in the 2009 Super Bowl against New Orleans. He was acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles off waivers in 2011 and started four of five games.
In addition to his professional football career, he has worked as a substitute teacher at his alma mater of Vacaville High School in California.
As a Beaver, he earned four letters (2004-07), starting 38 games (consecutively) and led the team to three bowl victories. OSU’s record during his tenure as an active player was 31-19. He earned Pac-10 Conference Honorable Mention as a sophomore and senior, and was a second team selection as a junior. He also was a member of the league’s academic honorable mention roster three times. He played in the 2008 East-West Shrine Game and twice he was a member of the preseason Rimington Trophy Watch List.
DeVan was twice named all-league in football at Vacaville on both sides of the ball. In addition, he excelled in wrestling where he was the California heavyweight champion as a senior.
