Smith played the 2006 and ’07 seasons for the Beavers, earning Pac-10 Conference First Team honors as a senior after making 42 tackles, including 10.5 for loss. He made a career-high 11 tackles against Oregon as a senior and left the school ranked fifth for career sacks with 15. For his career he made 12 starts, had 72 tackles and amassed 141 yards in tackles for lost yards.
He transferred to Oregon State from the College of the Desert after attending Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, Calif.
Smith played 36 games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers following his OSU career, starting out as a practice squad player in 2009. He made 91 tackles with 16 sacks during his CFL stint. While with Winnipeg the team led the CFL in sacks twice.
He is a 2009 graduate of OSU with a bachelor’s of science in speech communication.
