May 14, 2026 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Ethan Kleinschmit worked five innings for the win and Wyatt Queen struck out seven over four innings of relief as No. 7 Oregon State defeated Air Force 7-4 on Thursday night at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Â
Kleinschmit (9-2) allowed three hits and two runs — one earned — while striking out six and walking three. The left-hander surrendered two runs in the first inning but settled in from there, retiring 11 of the final 13 batters he faced. He picked off a runner in the second inning and induced an inning-ending double play in the fifth.
Â
Queen entered in the sixth and dominated, striking out the side in order in the eighth. He allowed a two-run homer to Tripp Garrish in the ninth but closed the door for his second save of the season, finishing with two hits allowed and two walks.
Â
Paul Vazquez and Ethan Porter each collected two hits and two RBI to lead the Oregon State offense. Josh Proctor drove in two runs on a double.
Â
Air Force (24-25) struck first. T.J. Oster walked to lead off the game and Ben Niednagel singled to center. Walker Zapp doubled down the left field line to score Oster, and Niednagel came home on a passed ball to make it 2-0.
Â
Oregon State (42-11) answered in the bottom of the first. Bryce Hubbard walked, and Vazquez launched a two-run homer to left field, at 380 feet, to tie the game at 2.
Â
The Beavers broke it open in the third. Hubbard walked again and Vazquez singled through the left side to put runners at first and second. Porter ripped a two-run double to left center to score both runners and give Oregon State a 4-2 lead.
Â
A wild pitch then moved Porter to third. Haight walked, and Proctor doubled down the left field line to plate two for a 6-2 lead.
