CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State softball will hit the road for a midweek doubleheader, playing the Portland State Vikings Tuesday at Hillsboro Stadium.
Game one: April 14, 2026 / 2 p.m. PT / Watch (ESPN+) / Live Stats
Game two: April 14, 2026 / 4:30 p.m. PT / Watch (ESPN+) / Live Stats
REWRITE THAT RECORD BOOK:
Much has been written about Jaeya Butler's incredible junior season, but over the weekend, she etched her name in history, hitting her 18th home run to take sole possession of the program's single season record. Doing so in style, Butler hit a grand slam to center field that sealed a 6-4 series opening victory and added another long ball in the second game of Friday's doubleheader.
The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native is also nearing several other records, as she enters Tuesday's games with Portland State just one RBI away from tying the team's single season record and is four doubles away from tying yet another single season record.
A (COMPLETE) PERFORMANCE:
Kimberlee Aleman tossed a gem of a game in the team's second matchup of Friday's doubleheader, going the distance while allowing six hits and just one run in the Beavers' 2-1 win. Early in the matchup, the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native made a highlight play in the circle, reacting quickly to snag a line drive hit straight up the middle.
Entering this week's doubleheader against Portland State, Aleman has made a team-leading 13 starts, pitching 73.2 innings across 20 total appearances.
STRONG SERIES:
Morgan Howey totaled a .455 average against Pacific, slugging .818 with a double, home run and RBI across 11 total at-bats, totaling five hits. Lici Campbell also had a strong weekend of play against the Tigers, hitting 4-9 (.444) with two doubles, one RBI and a base on balls. She drove in the opening run with a shot to the gap in Saturday's matchup and finished the weekend with an on-base percentage of .500.
DRIVE THEM IN:
The 2025 Oregon State Beavers finished with 203 runs scored and 192 RBI across 47 games. Through 43 contests in 2026, OSU sits at 206 runs and 198 RBI with 12 games still to be played. Butler's breakout campaign has played a big role, but several other Oregon State student-athletes have taken a big step this season: Howey has doubled her home run total and has more RBI this season than last, Tristian Thompson is at 11 homers and 34 RBI after finishing with 10 and 32 in 2025 and Jada Lewis has a pair of home runs and 19 RBI, both of which surpassed her 2025 totals.
LONG BALL:
Home runs have been central to the Beavers' improved offense. Entering this week's games, OSU sits at a West Coast Conference-leading 48, which is already 12 more than the team created last season and nine ahead of second place Seattle U, who is at 39. The season total is also at least three times that of three different WCC teams: San Diego (16), Pacific (15) and Santa Clara (14).
THIEVERY:
Even with the power, Oregon State is coming off an aggressive weekend on the base paths where the team combined for seven stolen bases in three games. Butler led the way with one in each contest while Lewis, Harrison, Camrynn Gordon and Justice Flores all totaled one apiece. Through 43 games in 2026, OSU is now at 46 stolen bases, which is yet another stat that surpasses last season's total when the team swiped 44.
FOURTEEN:
Head Coach Laura Berg is now in year 14 leading Beaver softball in 2026, the second longest tenured head coach in program history. Only Kirk Walker (1995-2012; 18 seasons) has spent more time at the helm of the program. Of the eight head coaches in program history, Berg ranks second behind Walker for career victories, while her conference winning percentage is the top mark.
BACK THE PAC:
After two seasons as affiliate members of the WCC, the Beavers will return to the Pac-12 following the 2026 season. Though Washington State and Gonzaga don't have softball programs, the Beavs will resume Pac-12 play with Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State. New members will officially join July 1, 2026.
