CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State softball fell, 8-3, to the Pacific Tigers Saturday at Kelly Field.
Lici Campbell was 2-4 with and RBI, breaking the game open with a first inning shot into the left field gap, scoring Jaeya Butler from second who singled and stole a base. Saturday's performance capped a strong series for the Vallejo, Calif., native, who hit 4-9 (.444) with two doubles, a walk and no strikeouts across three games played.
After Pacific took a lead in the second, Oregon State responded off the bat of Nikki Donahue in the bottom half of the inning, as the Honolulu, Hawaii, native crushed a 2-2 pitch over the wall in left field. Paige Bambarger, who singled in the previous at-bat, scored from first.
Mya Harrison was 1-2 with a walk while both Butler and Camrynn Gordon were 1-3 with a stolen base.
Four different pitchers appeared in a game that was started by Haydn Milley, who struck out two across 2.2 innings pitched. Amelia Streuber added two more strikeouts in two innings before Bailey Murray entered in the fifth, striking out one in 1.1 innings and Kimberlee Aleman pitched a scoreless seventh.
Pacific regained the lead with a three run third and added insurance runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
