Beavers Drop Two at Jane Sanders Classic
March 06, 2026 | Softball
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon State softball dropped games to Nevada, 7-5, and No. 18 Oregon, 8-3, on day one of the 2026 Jane Sanders Classic.
Game one: Nevada 7, Oregon State 5
The Beaver bats came alive early in game one, responding to a Wolfpack run in the first inning with five in the second. After loading the bases, Nikki Donahue was hit by a pitch to drive in one before Camrynn Gordon singled a run home and Jada Lewis doubled in two more on a double; Jaeya Butler hit a two-out sacrifice fly to put the Beavers ahead 5-1.
Nevada held OSU scoreless the rest of the way and eventually took a lead after scoring three in the third and two in the fifth, adding an insurance run in the seventh to secure the 7-5 final.
Morgan Howey tallied her seventh multi-hit game of the season, finishing 2-3 with a double, to fuel the beaver offense. Lewis was 1-2, adding a pair of walks, and Rylei Trujillo also walked. Bailey Murray, Kimberlee Aleman and Amelia Streuber all put in 2.1 innings of work as Murray and Aleman both struck out one.
Game two: Oregon 8, Oregon State 3
For the second-straight game, OSU's bats created early momentum, this time coming just two hitters in. After Jada Lewis walked, Jaeya Butler hit a ball to deep left center in the second at-bat of the game, both advancing on an error by the short stop to score. Morgan Howey promptly smashed a 2-1 pitch out of the park to make the lead 3-0.
Oregon scored two in the bottom of the first and leveled in the second as the Beaver bats cooled, and the Ducks took a lead in the third before adding more runs in the fourth and sixth to take an 8-3 win.
Butler led the team with two hits – both doubles – as Howey's day finished 1-3 with two RBI. Mya Harrison singled in the fourth as she finished 1-2; Alliyah Rodriguez walked.
Four pitchers earned time in the circle against UO in a game started by Haydn Milley, who allowed three hits across 1.2 innings. Aleman gave up two hits before Streuber (four hits, one earned run, 1.1 innings) and Murray (two hits, one run, one strikeout in 2.2 innings) finished the game.
The Jane Sanders Classic continues with a pair of games tomorrow against Nevada and Sacramento State before rounding out the five-game weekend with a matchup against the Hornets slated for 10 a.m. Sunday.
OSU returns home next Wednesday, hosting the Penn State Nittany Lions at Kelly Field. Tickets are available and can be purchased by calling the Beaver Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or visiting https://beav.es/SoftballTickets.
