Beavers Open Home Slate With 4-2 Win

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Bryce Hubbard homered and Dax Whitney struck out 11 to send Oregon State to a 4-2 win over Xavier Friday in the Beavers' 2026 home opener at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Whitney teamed with Wyatt Queen and Albert Roblez to strike out 16 Xavier (5-8 overall) batters, holding its offense to a pair of solo home runs, a third hit and two walks. Whitney went 6 1/3 innings, scattering two hits and a run for his second win of the season.
He has 45 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings this season.
Queen came on, worked 2 1/3 innings, allowing a hit and a run with four strikeouts while Roblez closed out the game by getting a strikeout for save No. 5 of 2026.
Hubbard opened Oregon State's (8-4) four-run second inning with a solo shot to right, his second long ball of the season. Easton Talt drew a bases-loaded walk for run No. 2 and Adam Haight drove in a pair on a single back up the middle.
The runs came off Xavier starter Ryan Piech, who gave up four hits with two walks and five strikeouts. He dropped to 1-2.
Hubbard, Haight and AJ Singer all had two hits in the win.
