Oregon State Defeats Mercer, 3-1, Sweeps Series
March 29, 2026 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State scored two seventh-inning runs to break a stalemate en route to a 3-1 win over Mercer Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field, giving the Beavers a three-game sweep over the Bears.
Oregon State, with the win, improved to 21-5 on the year and has won seven consecutive games.
The Beavers loaded the bases to open the seventh thanks to a single by Easton Talt and back-to-back walks by Adam Haight and Bryce Hubbard. That brought up Josh Proctor, who was able to poke a sacrifice fly to right, enabling Talt to come home from third.
A wild pitch with Jacob Galloway at the plate enabled Haight to score, capping the game's offense.
That left it up to the Oregon State pitching staff, which kept Mercer scoreless over the final two frames. Isaac Yeager, who came on in relief of starter Eric Segura in the sixth, earned his fourth win of the season. He equaled a career-high with six strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.
Wyatt Queen struck out the only batter he faced in the eighth, closing out the frame, and Albert Roblez struck out three, working around a one-out single, for his ninth save of the year.
Segura started, and struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings. He held Mercer (21-7) to five hits and a run in a no-decision effort.
OSU opened the game's scoring in the first, taking advantage of a fielding error by Mercer second baseman Devyn McEachron. He let a ground ball from Jacob Galloway go under his glove, enabling Haight to score from second.
The Beavers, however, tied the game with their only run of the day in the third. Chris Katz singled to left off Segura, scoring McEachron.
Haight had two of Oregon State's eight hits to lead the Beavers.
Oregon State's staff struck out 54 batters in 27 innings during the series. OSU's starters – Segura, Dax Whitney and Ethan Kleinschmit – combined for 32 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings.
Oregon State concludes its four-game homestand when the Beavers host Washington Tuesday night at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. First pitch is slated for 5:35 p.m. PT.
