February 03, 2026 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The honors keep coming in for Oregon State's Dax Whitney and Ethan Kleinschmit.
Whitney is a second-team preseason All-American and Kleinschmit was named to the third team by Baseball America, which released its three teams on Tuesday. The preseason All-America teams are selected by scouting departments of Major League Baseball organizations.
The duo were also named to Baseball America's National Pitcher of the Year watch list. Mason Pike, meanwhile, was named to the publication's Freshman of the Year watch list.
It's the third preseason All-America honor for both Whitney and Kleinschmit. Whitney was named a first-team selection by both Perfect Game and D1Baseball.com. Kleinschmit was chosen to PG's second team and D1's third team.
Whitney struck out 120 last season, which is the most nationally by a returning pitcher this season. He went 6-3 with a 3.40 earned run average last season, doing so in 76 2/3 innings.
The Blackfoot, Idaho native was named a Third-Team All-American by D1Baseball.com after the season.
Kleinschmit, meanwhile, went 8-5 with a 3.56 ERA a year ago, striking out 113 in 91 innings of work. He was chosen as a Third-Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Pike, an infielder and pitcher, comes to Corvallis from Puyallup, Wash. He was the Player of the Year in the State of Washington last season and was a four-time All-State and All-League selection while playing at Puyallup High School.
The Beavers' 2026 opener is slated for Feb. 13 against Michigan in Surprise, Ariz. Tickets for Oregon State's four games in Arizona can be found at surprisestadium.com/events/college-baseball.
