June 08, 2026 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State left-handed pitcher Trey Morris has been named a First-Team Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, the organization announced on Monday.
Morris, from Easton, Calif., completed his first season as a Beaver with a 7-0 record and 1.98 earned run average in 16 games, eight of which were starts. He struck out 67 in 59 innings, holding opponents to a .166 batting average, scattering 34 hits to 15 walks. His 0.83 WHIP ranks first nationally, his ERA is second and Morris' 5.19 hits allowed per nine innings ranks third.
His last six appearances came as starts, from April 22 to May 31, and the lefty held opponents to 20 hits and nine walks while striking out 37 in 32 3/2 innings. He went 5-0 over that stretch, posting a 1.38 ERA.
The lefty gives Oregon State at least one Freshman All-American for the fifth time in seven seasons under Mitch Canham. Morris is the first Beaver left-hander to be recognized since Brandon Eisert and Jake Mulholland were both selected in 2017.
