Proctor’s Single Walks It Off For Beavers Over Stanford
February 15, 2026 | Baseball
SURPRISE, Ariz. – Josh Proctor's first career hit drove in Cooper Vance with the game-winning run in the ninth inning as 12th-ranked Oregon State defeated Stanford, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at Surprise Stadium.
Proctor took a 1-2 pitch from reliever Mike Erspamer and punched it through the right side of the infield. Vance, who had walked to open the inning and went to second on a walk to Jacob Krieg, came home with the game-winning run as Tatum Marsh's throw from right field was not in time.
It broke a stalemate between the long time rivals, who were meeting for the 106th time. OSU (2-1) went ahead 2-0, both in large part due to Stanford errors.
Oregon State's first run came in the first thanks to a Stanford throwing error. The Beavers added to the lead in the third when Tyler Inge scored from third when a Cardinal pick off throw at first went wide.
The Cardinal (1-2) scored its only runs of the game when Brock Sell singled home a pair with two out in the fourth.
That was the lone blemish for an Oregon State pitching staff that featured starter Eric Segura and relievers Wyatt Queen and Isaac Yeager. Segura went three scoreless, and Queen worked four full, scattering three hits and two runs with four strikeouts.
Yeager, making his second appearance as a Beaver, worked the last two innings, allowing one hit while striking out one. He got the win and is 1-1 on the season.
The Beavers recorded just four hits on the day, with AJ Singer tallying two. Easton Talt also doubled in the eighth.
Erspamer took the loss for Stanford, dropping to 0-1.
Oregon State concludes play in Surprise Monday when taking on Michigan in an 11 a.m. PT first pitch (noon in Arizona). Catch the game live on the Beaver Sports Network and Flo Baseball.
