Whitney, Kleinschmit Named Preseason All-Americans

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State sophomore Dax Whitney and junior Ethan Kleinschmit have been named preseason All-Americans by Perfect Game, it was announced on Wednesday. Whitney is a first-team selection while Kleinschmit has been named to the second team.
Whitney, a right-handed pitcher from Blackfoot, Idaho, struck out 120 batters in 76 2/3 innings, going 6-3 with a 3.40 earned run average. His 120 strikeouts marked the most nationally by a freshman, and also stand as the most by a returning pitcher in 2026.
Whitney was named a Freshman All-American by every organization last season and was also a Third-Team All-American by D1Baseball.com.
Kleinschmit is a left-handed pitcher from Mt. Angel, Ore. He pitched in 17 games a year ago, going 7-5 with a 3.56 ERA. He struck out 113 in 91 innings and held opponents to a .194 batting average.
Kleinschmit was also named an All-American, earning third-team honors by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
