Beavers Complete Pac-12 Sweep With Win Over Little Rock

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 24-nationally ranked Oregon State wrestling team had no problem with Little Rock, winning 29-10 in a Pac-12 Conference dual meet in front of 1,200 fans on Friday evening at Gill Coliseum.
With the win, the Beavers swept their Pac-12 opponents – CSU Bakersfield, Cal Poly and Little Rock – this season and improved to 5-1 overall.
Maximo Renteria, a three-time recipient of the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week this season, started the night with a 14-3 major decision over Tyson Roach. Renteria, ranked 10th nationally at 125 pounds, moved to 15-2 this season with nine of those wins earning extra points.
Gabe Whisenhunt, who is No. 31 in the nation at 133 pounds, notched his third-straight win with a 12-4 major decision against Dillon Cooper. Whisenhunt improved to 6-5 this season and 26-17 in his Oregon State career.
Manny Saldate competed at 141 pounds for Oregon State and battled throughout for a 4-2 decision over Brennan Van Hoecke to give the Beavers an early 11-0 lead. Saldate, a freshman from Las Vegas, moved to 9-3 in his debut college campaign.
CJ Hamblin earned his 14th win of the season with an 11-3 major decision against Kyle Lew at 157 pounds to give Oregon State a 15-4 advantage at the midway point. Hamblin, who has competed at 149 and 157 pounds, improved to 14-9 on the season and 26-17 in his career.
Daschle Lamer, ranked 25th in the nation at 174 pounds, was dominant in a fall against Bronson Baxter at 4:26 for his third pin of the season. Lamer moved to 16-2 this season with 12 of those wins coming via major decision, technical fall or fall.
After an overtime loss in the last meet, TJ McDonnell returned to the win column with a 5-2 decision over Kodiak Cannedy at 184 pounds. McDonnell, ranked 30th nationally, improved to 12-6 on the season and 19-20 in his three-year Oregon State career.
No. 4 Justin Rademacher, cruised to his seventh-straight win with a 19-4 technical fall at 3:32 against Liam Daniels at 197 pounds. Rademacher moved his season record to 19-1 and career mark to 33-11. His only loss this season came against No. 2 Rocky Elam of Iowa State at the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas.
