Ly, Nakao Lead Beavers On Day One In Napa

NAPA, Calif. – Kyra Ly and Raya Nakao both had great starts at the Silverado Showdown to lead the Oregon State women's golf team on Monday.
Ly fired a 1-under 71 and Nakao carded an even-par 72 in the opening round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament that features eight teams ranked among the Top 50 in the nation.
The Beavers concluded first-round play with a 9-over 297 at the par-72, 6,207-yard Silverado Resort South Course to put them in the upper half of the 16-team field.
The second round begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday and live scoring is available at this link.
Ly continued a sensational junior campaign with a 1-under 71 that included three birdies, 13 pars and a douible-bogey to put her in a tie for sixth place. Eight of Ly's last 10 rounds have been in red figures, including a program record 7-under 65 at the Causeway Invitational where she won the individual title.
Nakao had one birdie and eight pars for a 1-under 36 going out and battled coming in with two birdies and three bogeys to post an even-par 72 that has her in a tie for 14th place. Five of Nakao's last six rounds have been 72 or better.
Clara Alevag dropped in a birdie on the par-3, 147-yard 15th hole and finished with a 4-over 76 to sit in a tie for 46th place.
Rebecca Kim and Madde Sund are both tied for 63rd place with a 6-over 78.
Northwestern and Cal State Fullerton share the team lead with a 1-under 287. Kaitlyn Zermeno Smith of Cal State Fullerton fired a 6-under 66 to hold a four-stroke advantage over four golfers.
