Dawn Shockley, Kyra Ly Selected For Top WCC Awards
April 22, 2025 | Women's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Dawn Shockley was selected the West Coast Conference Women's Golf Coach of the Year and Kyra Ly was named the WCC Player of the Year, by a vote of the conference coaches on Tuesday.
Raya Nakao and Ly were both voted to the 10-member WCC All-Conference Team.
Shockley is in her ninth year as head coach and has led Oregon State to its most success in program history with six team titles, eight trips to postseason competition, and several team and individual records during that time.
This season the Beavers won the WCC Championship, the first conference title in program history, and two team titles overall (Causeway Invitational, WCC). It is the first time Oregon State has won two team titles in the same season since 1997 (BYU Invitational, Northwest Invitational).
With the WCC Championship, Oregon State earned an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships and will find out Wednesday, April 23 where it will play. The official announcement will be at 10:00 a.m. PT on Golf Channel and streamed live on the Golf Channel website.
Ly, a native of Portland, has had a sensational junior campaign with five Top 10 finishes, including her first career individual title at the Causeway Invitational where she set three Oregon State records – best single-round score: 7-under 65 (previous record was 6-under 66 by Nicole Schroeder {twice}, Olivia Benzin, Ellie Slama); best 36-hole score: 13-under 131; best three-round score: 16-under 200 (previous record was 11-under 205 by Ellie Slama).
Her scoring average of 71.83 is on pace to break the Oregon State single-season record of 72.05 that was set last season by Raya Nakao,
Nakao, a sophomore from Kaneohe, Hawai'i, has equaled her record-setting first-year campaign this season with four Top 10 finishes, including the individual title at the WCC Championship where she won in a two-hole playoff. She has nine under-par scores with a career-best 6-under 66 in the first round of the WCC Championship.
