February 10, 2025 | Women's Gymnastics
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Some 72 hours after a home tri meet on Friday, OSU gymnastics was back on the apparatuses again, this time posting a 197.325 overall score to best the Washington Huskies and Alaska Seawolves inside Gill Coliseum.
For the third-consecutive competition, the Beavers improved their rotation score in every single rotation, culminating in a season high-tying 49.550 on floor that counted five 9.900-plus scores and saw trio of athletes lead off the rotation by tying career highs: Savannah Miller and Sage Thompson both earned 9.900s, while Sophia Esposito won the event title with a 9.950.
Jade Carey and Kaitlin Garcia rounded out the impressive rotation by each earning 9.900s.
Garcia started the meet off with a bang, setting her own personal best on vault with a 9.900, which was the highest of any vaulter on Monday and the second time this season that she has posted the highest score of any competitor at a meet; Garcia previously scored a 9.950 on floor during the team's season opener on Jan. 4.
Francesca Caso earned the right to compete on bars for the second consecutive competition and slid into the three spot, earning a 9.875 that sparked the back half of the lineup. After her season-high tally, Jennifer McMillan scored a 9.850 that was followed by Sage Thompson earning a 9.925 and Jade Carey 9.900.
Consistency was the key in the third rotation as the third-ranked Beaver beam lineup posted a 49.325 fueled by strong performances at the beginning, middle and end. Esposito led things off with her third straight 9.875 in the leadoff spot before the combination of Lauren Letzsch (9.850) and Jennifer McMillan (9.875) set the stage for Carey, who did what she does best and earned yet another 9.900 while anchoring the lineup.
For the sixth time in six meets, Carey won the all-around, this time scoring a 39.575 with three more 9.900s on bars, beam and floor to go with a 9.875 vault, winning even titles on all-around and beam.
Oregon State gymnastics will be on the road for its next four meets, returning to Gill Coliseum on March 15.
