Akey Appointed Interim Head Coach
• Robb Akey was appointed Oregon State's Interim Head Coach prior to the Beavers' game against Lafayette.
• Akey joined the Oregon State staff as Special Assistant To The Head Coach prior to the 2025 season. He joined the program from Central Michigan, where he was defensive coordinator from 2019-2024.
• Akey was the head coach at Idaho from 2007-12, taking the Vandals to the Humanitarian Bowl in 2009.
• Akey is no stranger to the Pac-12 Conference. He was the defensive coordinator at Washington State from 2003-06. Prior to that, he coached the Cougars' defensive line unit from 1999-2002.
On This Date
• Oregon State is playing on Nov. 15 for the 16th time in the program's history.
• The Beavers are 9-6 on the date, last playing on it in 2014, defeating then-No. 7, Arizona State, 35-27, in Corvallis.
Recapping Sam Houston
• Oregon State scored on its opening drive for the third time this season and first since game five against Houston. Anthony Hankerson totaled 41 rush yards on five carries on the drive.
• Hankerson's 33 carries marked the most by a Beaver since Malcolm Agnew ran for 223 yards on 33 carries versus Sacramento State on Sept. 3, 2011.
• David Wells Jr. caught a career-high nine receptions for 112 yards, which also marked a career-best.
• Gabarri Johnson threw for a career-high 286 yards. His 69-percent completion percentage marked the best by a Beaver this season in games with at least 20 attempts.
• Trent Walker made four catches for 14 yards. He's at 1,612 receiving yards for his career, ranking 19th at Oregon State. He's also now caught 142 career passes, just nine shy of 151, which will tie him for 10th at Oregon State.
• Ellijah Washington's 29-yard kick return to open the game marked the longest by the Beavers this season.
• Sailasa Vadrawale III intercepted his first pass of the season in his career at Oregon State.
• Sam Houston was held to 157 total yards, the fewest by a Beaver opponent since California had 156 in 2022.
• The Beavers scored in double figures in the first quarter for the first time this season. OSU was, however, held scoreless in the second half for the first time since game four of the season at Oregon.
• Oregon State limited Sam Houston to 96 first-half yards, matching the total allowed in the second half of the win over Washington State.
• The game marked the earliest end to OSU's home schedule since the 1993 Beavers played their last home game Nov. 6.
• Tyree Blake made his first collegiate start and Walker Harris made his first start in an Oregon State uniform.
• Hankerson's 166 yards gave him 10 100-yard efforts for his career, good for sole possession of ninth in the OSU record books.
Going For 1K
• Anthony Hankerson enters the game with 969 rush yards on the season and is on pace for 1,162 over the 12-game regular season.
• Hankerson ranks seventh nationally with 969 yards on the ground this season.
• Should Hankerson reach 1,000 on the season, he would become just the sixth player in program history with two or more 1,000-yard seasons.
• The other five? Try Pete Pifer (1965 and 1966), Ken Simonton (1998, 1999 and 2000), Steven Jackson (2002 and 2003), Yvenson Bernard (2005, 2006 and 2007), and Jacquizz Rodgers (2008, 2009 and 2010).
• There have been 19 1,000-yard seasons in program history.
• Hankerson now has 10 career 100-yard efforts, tying him for ninth most in an Oregon State career.Â
• He has topped 100 yards in four consecutive games - 101 vs. Wake Forest, 204 vs. Lafayette, 134 vs. Washington State and 166 against Sam Houston - for the first time in his career.
