Trio Honored, Women’s Basketball Picked to Repeat
October 23, 2025 | Women's Basketball
LAS VEGAS – Oregon State placed three returners on the Preseason All-WCC Team and conference coaches picked the Beavers to win the league, the WCC announced on Thursday morning.
Nine of 12 league coaches awarded the Beavers with their first-place vote and the team finished eight points ahead of Gonzaga, who got the other three votes for the top spot. Kennedie Shuler, Catarina Ferreira and Tiara Bolden earned three of 10 total preseason all-league spots, the most of any team.
Ferreira, the reigning WCC Tournament MVP, led the Beavers to the conference tournament title last season in Las Vegas. The senior wing scored 15+ points in all three WCC Tournament games. She averaged 9.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season, one of six Beavs in the last 25 years to average more than six rebounds per game while standing 6-foot or smaller.
The Beavers went as Shuler did in 2024-25 with the point guard averaging an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.25 over the regular season's final 10 games. The Gresham, Ore. native had a knack for heroics, making three game-winning shots with three seconds or less remaining on the clock. Shuler averaged 7.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game over the full season.
Bolden, Ferreira's one-time junior college teammate, scored in double figures 10 times in 2024-25. The senior guard from Eugene, Ore. was also one of the league's best rebounding guards with 3.9 boards supplementing the 8.1 points per game. The Beavers went 8-2 when Bolden scored in double figures last season.
Shuler and Bolden joined head coach Scott Rueck at WCC Media Days. Fans can tune into the ESPN+ live show at 11:30 a.m. to watch the Beavs.
The Beavers officially open the season at home on November 7 against Corban. Tip is slated for 3 p.m. on ESPN+. OSU also plays Alaska-Fairbanks in a free exhibition game at 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 2. The exhibition will not be streamed and live stats will not be available.
