
Attao Tabbed USA Wrestling's Athlete of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Fresh off a bronze medal-finish at the U20 Wrestling World Championships in Spain, Aden Attao has been named USA Wrestling's Athlete of the Week.
The Boise, Idaho, product battled back from the repechage rounds on his way to secure the medal finish. Despite falling short in his tournament opener, Attao responded with an 8-0 win at technical fall before a neck-and-neck finish propelled him to the third-place match.
Countering Aleksandr Melehkov's early 3-0 lead in the third-place bout, Attao turned the tide with a decisive pin in just 3:13, locking in the win by fall to take the bronze medal.

Attao's performance helped the USA to a sixth-place finish in the Greco-Roman competition, its best finish since the 2019 edition of the tournament. The bronze from Attao was one of three won by American competitiors.
