CORVALLIS, Ore. – Returning to action this week after opening the season in Phoenix, the Oregon State volleyball team will compete at the Roadrunner Classic in Bakersfield, Calif., against CSU Bakersfield and Nevada.

THE MATCHUPS
September 5    at CSU Bakersfield        11:30 a.m.
September 6    vs. Nevada                  1 p.m.

Only the match against CSU Bakersfield will be on ESPN+ but both will have live stats via StatBroadcast.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
1: Oregon State's one other time playing CSU Bakersfield was also in the Roadrunner Classic 10 years ago.
2: Two freshmen - Emma Lilo (21) and Yasemin Narlioglu (30) - have double-digit digs.
7: OSU will play its first seven on the road before the home slate opens on September 17th.
8: The Beavers will play eight matches in California in 2024, starting with two in Bakersfield.
48: Emma Lilo had 48 assists, which is the single-match best in the Behonick era.
55: Lauren Rumel opened 2024 with double-digit kills in three consecutive matches. Her weekend ended with 55 kills, starting with 21 on opening day.

THE WEEK'S OPPOSITION
• Oregon State and CSU Bakersfield will meet for the second time ever on Thursday morning. The Beavers won a four-set match back in 2014, also in the Roadrunner Invite.
• In a series that dates to 1976, OSU will meet Nevada for the 12th time and holds an 8-3 lead in it.
• The Beavers have won the last seven in the series including last year's meeting.
• In the 2023 meeting, OSU took it the distance, reverse-sweeping the Wolf Pack behind 28 assists from Amanda Burns.

• AC Aaron Samarin was a member of the Wolf Pack staff in the 2023 season.

LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK
• The Beavers finished weekend one at 1-2, defeating Fresno State before falling to Grand Canyon and Montana at the GCU Invitational.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
• A pair of freshmen - Emma Lilo and Yasemin Narlioglu - made their presence known on the team in the first weekend.
• Lilo tallied 48 assists in her collegiate debut against Fresno State before following it up with a pair more of double-digit performances, with 34 at Grand Canyon and 25 against Montana.
• Her 107 assists and 8.92 assists-per-set both rank third in the WCC.
• Narlioglu recorded 19 digs in her collegiate debut against Fresno State before putting up 11 against Grand Canyon on Saturday night.

• Vivian Light (6) and Narlioglu (5) both sit in the top-6 in service aces in the WCC at 4th and 6th, respectively.
• The Beavers are the only school in the league with a pair of student-athletes in the top-6 of the category.

• The 2024 squad has 10 new members, seven freshmen and three coming via the transfer portal.
• A pair – Annika Hester and Elly Schraeder - come to Corvallis with prior experience in the WCC.
• While Schraeder joins from San Diego State, she and Hester were also teammates at WCC foe, San Diego during the 2021 campaign.
• Kalli Schoening - a Eugene native - will play her final year of college volleyball in orange and black. She returns to the Beaver State from Eckerd College, a Division II school in St. Petersburg, Fla.
• Schoening helped lead South Eugene HS to a district championship in her senior season and was twice an all-conference selection.
• The seven freshmen are: Alondra Paz (Woodburn, Ore.), Zaria Thornton (Carson, Calif.), Lilo (Kailua, Hawaii), Regan Shields (Ladera Ranch, Calif.), Narlioglu (Kadikoy, Turkey), Alara Doganyüz (Ankara, Turkey) and Alexis Rodriguez (Mililani, Hawaii).

• Oregon State's pair of preseason WCC-honored student-athletes were Hester and Rumel
• The Beavers were picked to finish fourth in the conference by the league's coaches in the preseason poll.
• The fourth-place selection is the highest for the Beavers in the Behonick era.

• For the second consecutive year in the Behonick era, the Beavers will have three international student-athletes.
• OSU has a pair from Turkey - Doganyüz and Narlioglu – along with Coba (Italy).
