Rademacher Preps for U20 World Championships
August 27, 2024 | Wrestling
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Wasting no time in putting his name on the national stage with a trip the NCAA Championships in his true freshman season, Justin Rademacher will be showcasing his skills internationally as he competes in next month's U-20 World Championships in the Freestyle competition.
The West Linn, Ore. native racked up a dozen wins in his first season, including four over ranked opponents and his first two were by fall. Following a win over then-No. 15 Nick Stemmet of Stanford, he was tabbed as the Pac-12's Wrestler of the Week. During the postseason, he clinched an automatic berth to the NCAAs with a runner-up finish at the Pac-12 Championships.
In late May, Rademacher secured his spot on Team USA with a strong win over a U.S. Open champion in Ohio, Camden McDaniel. With it being a best-of-three final, Rademacher battled for a 4-3 win in the opener before cruising to an 11-1 victory to clinch the spot at 97 kg.
With the nuances of styles across collegiate and international competition, Rademacher notes that, "we wrestle in a different style that's a little faster, so I feel I could have an advantage in the pace." Speaking of speed, he also noted that speed also is something that he could bring to the table from collegiate wrestling. The Beaver State product also noted that he "experienced a lot of growth and I believe being in college wrestling will really help against younger international competition."
Rademacher starts his run at the U20s on Friday, September 6th with the qualification rounds set for midnight PT. The tournament's entirety will be shown exclusively on FloWrestling.
