May 11, 2024 | Women's Track & Field
BOULDER, Colo. – Anneke Moersdorf opened Saturday at the Pac-12 Championships by making a little history as Oregon State's first Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year in track and field.
Â
The annual honor recognizes both athletic and academic achievement among Pac-12 athletes in each sport.
Â
Moersdorf maintains a 3.98 GPA as a Kinesiology major with an option in Pre-Therapy and Allied Health. In six opportunities to make the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll, Moersdorf made all six. The senior entered the conference championship weekend ranked 16th in the nation in the heptathlon, within the top-24 that advance to the national championship meet.
Â
Athletically, Moersdorf entered the weekend as the Oregon State school record holder in Triple Jump (Indoor & Outdoor), Long Jump (Outdoor), 4x400 Relay (Outdoor) and Heptathlon. She also ranks among school top 10 list in 100m Hurdles, Long Jump (Indoor), 60m Hurdles and the Pentathlon.Â
Â
Last season, she finished fifth in the Pac-12 in the heptathlon and eighth in the long jump, making NCAA West Prelims in the latter and just missing the national meet in the multis.
Â
Moersdorf opens day two of the heptathlon with the long jump at 12 p.m. PT. She is in fifth place entering the day with 3,338 points, ahead the day-one mark from her school-record mark from last season's Pac-12 Championships.
