Beavs Battle Huskies
April 13, 2024 | Men's Rowing
SEATTLE – Washington swept three races against Oregon State in Saturday's Pac-12 dual between the two Pacific Northwest foes.
The third-ranked Huskies took down the 21st-ranked Beavs in all three races, though OSU put up a fight for much of the day.
"Doing a 2K down the iconic Montlake Cut, the home of The Boys in the Boat, is like rowing along in history. To line up next to a strong team with a lot of tradition is an honor in itself. Our guys earned their respect, I am sure. We put out our best performance and hung with a team that has one more IRA championships than I can count. This shows we are tracking right along with them. To be two lengths off Washington is a move in the right direction," said head coach Gabe Winkller. "We are still building something. Go Beavs"
The Beavers, coming off a weekend where they battled three teams in the most recent IRCA/IRA Coaches' Poll, took on yet another in the Huskies. OSU's Varsity 8 came the closest to taking down no. 3, finishing just under seven seconds behind UW.
