Chayse Gomez Posts Best-Career Finish At Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. – Chayse Gomez finished in a career-best tie for fifth place to lead the Oregon State women's golf team at the Silverado Showdown on Wednesday.
Gomez, a senior from Yorba Linda, Calif., bounced back after an opening round 3-over 75 with a pair of 2-under 70's to finish the event with a 1-under 215. Her previous best finish was a tie for sixth place at the Silverado Showdown two years ago.
She now has six career Top 10 finishes, tied for the 11th most in Oregon State history. Gomez has 11 rounds in red figures this season and 31 overall in her five-year Beaver career.
The Beavers finished in a tie for 11th place in the 16-team tournament with a 26-over 298-295-297—890 at the par-72, 6,146-yard Silverado Resort and Spa.
Kyra Ly finished in a tie for 13th place with a 2-over 72-72-74—218. It is the fourth time she's finished in the Top 15 this season with the best being a share of the individual title at the Meadow Club Invitational in early March.
Raya Nakao was a stroke back of Ly, finishing with a 3-over 69-75-75—219 to finish in a tie for 18th place. The true freshman has five Top 20 finishes in the nine tournaments this season, including a career-best fifth place in her first collegiate event at the Dick McGuire Invitational.
True freshman Kelly Hope shot a 22-over 82-78-78—238 and fellow frosh Rebecca Kim finished with a 41-over 82-92-83—257.
Northwestern and USC shared the team title with a 4-over 868, while Kajsa Arwefjall of San Jose State and Catherine Park split medalist honors with a 7-under 209.
The Beavers will next compete at the Pac-12 Championship, scheduled for Sunday, April 21 through Tuesday, April 23, in Pullman, Wash.
