Beavers Conclude Play at PING/ASU Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Chayse Gomez and Raya Nakao both carded a 1-over 73 to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the final round of the PING/ASU Invitational on Saturday.
The Beavers concluded the three-day, 54-hole tournament in 14th place with a 23-over 288-301-298—887 at the par-72, 6,570-yard Papago Golf Club. The competitive field had 14 of the 17 teams ranked among the Top 50 nationally.
Gomez, a fifth-year senior from Yorba Linda, Calif., finished in a team-best tie for 30th place with a 1-over 70-74-73—217. Nakao, a true freshman from Kaneohe, Hawai'i, jumped 12 spots up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 43rd place with a 5-over 73-75-73—221.
Gomez and Nakao each had 10 birdies over the three rounds.
Madde Sund finished in a tie for 65th place with an 8-over 73-77-74—224, Kyra Ly posted a 9-over 72-75-78—225 to finish in a tie for 69th place and Kelly Hope finished in a tie for 88th with a 21-over 77-80-80—237.
Rebecca Kim, who competed as an individual, finished in 86th place with a 16-over 79-77-76—232.
Northwestern won the 17-team tournament with an 11-under 853. Zoe Campos of UCLA and Emma Bunch of New Mexico State shared the individual title with a 9-under 207.
The Beavers will next compete in their final tournament before the Pac-12 Championship when they head to Napa, Calif., for the Silverado Showdown, which is scheduled for Monday, April 8 through Wednesday, April 10.
