Beers Named To Ann Meyers Drysdale USBWA National Player of the Year Watchlist
February 27, 2024 | Women's Basketball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Raegan Beers was named to the Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Midseason Team on Tuesday.
Beers is the first Beaver to win two Pac-12 Player of the Week honors in a season since Marie Gulich in 2017-18. The sophomore post officially passed the OSU legend – and soon-to-be Olympian - in career double-doubles with her 28th on the road at Colorado.
Fourteen of Beers' double-doubles have come in 2023-24, which ranks 19th nationally and second in the conference. Beers also ranks second nationally in field goal percentage (66.5%) and is one of three players in the country averaging at least 17 points per game while shooting 65 percent or better from the floor. Her 11.1 rebounds per game are 10th-most nationally.
The offensive and rebounding numbers have come with improved defense as the sophomore has already surpassed her block and steal totals from her freshman year with two regular season games to go. Beers anchors the Pac-12's best – and nation's eighth-best - field goal percentage defense. Her Her Hoop Stats Defensive Rating is the second-best in the league behind reigning league Defensive Player of the Year Cameron Brink.
The Beavers return home for two games with huge postseason implications against no. 3 Stanford (7 p.m. – Thursday) and Cal (12 p.m. – Saturday). Fans can get tickets at beavertickets.com.
