CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – The Oregon State softball team completed play at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Sunday morning, falling to Northwestern, by a 4-0 line on Sunday morning.

The Beavers (6-10) threatened the Wildcats, who are receiving-votes, with a leadoff double down the left field line in the bottom of the seventh but saw the chance dissipate.

Northwestern opened their scoring with a solo home run in the second frame before adding to their advantage with three spread across the fourth and sixth innings.

Ellie Garcia got charged with the loss after giving up three runs (all earned) on a pair of hits and three walks across 3.1 innings. Sarah Haendiges threw 3.2 frames in relief, giving up a run on four hits and issued one walk.

Oregon State will resume action in southern California with a rematch with Michigan as part of the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton next Friday.
