Dominic Garcia Joins Softball Staff
September 28, 2023 | Softball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Joining the staff on a full-time basis for the Oregon State softball team, Dominic Garcia has been hired as an assistant coach, as announced Thursday by head coach Laura Berg.
He will lead player development, technology and data.
"I'm excited and grateful to be a part of the staff and continue my journey with Oregon State softball" noted Garcia.
Garcia, an OSU alumnus, served the Beaver softball team as a student manager during his undergraduate years (2018-22) before staying on as a volunteer video coordinator for the 2023 season.
Quickly working his way to lead student manager after just his first season, Garcia was tasked with ensuring practices ran smoothly, supervising the other student managers, aiding the staff with drills and instruction and making sure Kelly Field was always ready to go for the next practice. As the video coordinator, he operated cameras, ensured games were filmed and uploaded them so the team could study film. Helping with the preparation, Garcia utilized Synergy to analyze the patterns of opposing student-athletes ahead of time.
"We are excited to have Dominic as a part of our staff," said Berg. "He brings lots of knowledge with the analytical part of the game."
His help behind the scenes was instrumental in the run to the 2022 Women's College World Series.
