Renteria to join Beavs

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Returning to the west coast, Maximo Renteria will join the Oregon State wrestling team ahead of the 2023-24 season, as announced by the program on Tuesday.

Transferring from Illinois, the Californian brings a season's worth of experience in the Big Ten at 125 lbs. and picked up wins in 18 bouts a season ago. In a December dual against Chattanooga, he registered a pin at 5:40 in a 32-9 defeat of the Mocs. As a redshirt during the 2021-22 season, he picked up five wins, including three by fall and went unbeaten in his last four.
A nationally ranked prep prospect, Renteria claimed three individual CIF state crowns at 126 lbs. (2018-20) and another three (2020, 22-23) CIF team championships while competing for Buchanan High School.
