Dawn Shockley Named To WGCA National Coach Of The Year Watch List
May 17, 2023 | Women's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Dawn Shockley was named to the watch list for the 2022-23 Division I Jackie Steinmann Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride.
The award will be announced after medal play at the upcoming NCAA Championship in Scottsdale, Ariz., which begins Friday at Grayhawk Golf Club.
Recognized as the highest annual coaching honor in women's collegiate golf, the Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride is awarded annually to the top coach in Division I, II III and NAIA women's golf. The recipient is selected by a prestigious collection of women's collegiate golf coaches who follow criteria that has been established to identify the top head coach for the past year.
Shockley has led the Oregon State women's golf team to the most success in program history during her seven years as the head coach with four team titles, six trips to postseason competition, and several team and individual records during that time.
This season Shockley and associate head coach Kelly Kerkvliet led the Beavers to the program's best-ever finish at an NCAA Regional, second place, and a trip to the NCAA National Championship for just the second time in school history (1998 was the other).
