Beavers Conclude First Round Play At Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. – The Oregon State women's golf team concluded first round play at the Silverado Showdown on Monday.
The Beavers shot a 25-over 313 in the opening round at the par-72, 6,146-yard Silverado Resort and Spa and are in 16th place in the 17-team field.
Oregon State has 36 holes left in the tournament to move up the leaderboard with 18 holes scheduled each of the next two days.
The second round of the three-day, 54-hole event begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com. The Beavers will start on the 10th hole at 8:11 a.m. and be paired with Texas State and five individuals.
Danique Stokmans led Oregon State with a 3-over 75 that included a team-best four birdies. Like all five Beaver golfers, she started on the 10th hole and had a birdie on the par-4 12th with five bogeys for a 4 over 40 going out.
Stokmans caught fire on her back nine with three birdies, including two in a row to end the day, to post a 1-under 35 coming in. The four birdies are tied for the seventh most in the 93-player field.
Amanda Minni knocked in birdies on back-to-back-to-back holes -- the par-5 16th, par-4 17th and par-5 18th -- to finish the opening round with a 5-over 77.
Kyra Ly (8-over 80) and Chayse Gomez (9-over 81) joined Stokmans and Minni to make up the Beavers' first round team score.
Kelsey Webster finished the opening round with a 12-over 84.
Northwestern was the only team to finish the first round in red figures, shooting a 4-under 284, to hold an eight-stroke lead over Arizona State and Texas A&M (4-over 292).
Zoe Campos of UCLA and Amanda Linner share the individual lead with a 5-under 67.
