Scatena and Weidinger Highlight Thursday’s Action

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Adael Scatena and Taylor Weidinger outraced the field and their own previous personal bests to highlight a solid first day in a busy weekend for Oregon State Track & Field.

The duo posted the no. 2 (59.57) and no. 6 (1:01.14) times in school history, respectively. Both outraced their previous bests by at least one second with Weidinger coming in two seconds ahead of her previous PR. Scatena and Weidinger placed first and third among collegians at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate.

Delaney Bahn recorded a strong day for the Beavers in the heptathlon, finishing fourth in section C after the first day of action. Bahn posted three personal bests in the first four events. Her marks in the 100 hurdles (15.09), shot put (9.68m/31-9.25) and 200 (24.97) meters were all PRs.

Paige Sefried and Ava McKee also notched PBs, recording times of 2:15.32 and 2:22.97 in the 800 meters to finish third and 16th. It was the second personal best of the year for both athletes as their growth continues at the midway point of the season.

The Beavers weekend continues with more from the Beach Invitational and Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday. Competition opens with the high jump at Beach at 9:30 a.m.
