Bazzana Drives In 5, Canham Wins 100th At OSU

With the victory, Mitch Canham, the Pat Casey Head Baseball Coach, won his 100th game during his tenure at Oregon State. He is 100-53 (.654) in four seasons leading the Beavers.
Bazzana doubled home a run in the third, hit his first home run of the season in the sixth inning and cleared the bases with a triple in the eighth to cap Oregon State's (10-2) offensive output. He finished the night 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
Micah McDowell also had three hits for the Beavers, who tallied 13 as a team. Mason Guerra and Garret Forrester tallied two apiece.
Justin Thorsteinson recorded the win after scattering a hit in 2 1/3 scoreless innings. He is 1-0 on the year.
Thorsteinson was one of six relievers for the Beavers. Ben Ferrer started and made his first appearance of the season, limiting San Diego (5-6-1) to two hits with two strikeouts in two innings.
Mikiah Negrete took the loss for San Diego after allowing four hits and three runs in two innings. He was the first of three relievers in place of Ivran Romero, who allowed seven hits and three runs in four innings.
The Toreros scored first but Bazzana and Forrester drove in runs in the third to even the game at two. McDowell drove in a run on a double in the fourth. Gavin Turley homered in the fifth, and was a followed by a run-scoring double by Mason Guerra.
Bazzana drove in the Beavers' last four runs to help send OSU to its sixth consecutive victory over the Toreros.
Next Up
Oregon State stays home to open Pac-12 Conference play when the Beavers host Washington State for a three-game series. The series opens at 5:35 p.m. PT Friday night.

- Tyce Peterson recorded his first career hit on a single to left center in the fourth. Peterson appeared in his fourth career game, and second start.
- The Beavers have hit at least one home run in 10 if their 12 games this season. OSU has now hit at least two in six of its 12 games.
- Jacob Krieg pitched for the first time in an OSU uniform, seeing action in the third.
- Travis Bazzana extended his hit streak to 11 games, while Gavin Turley extended his to 10.
