Chayse Gomez Leads Beavers On Day Two In Phoenix

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Chayse Gomez fired a 1-under 71 to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the second round of the PING/ASU Invitational on Saturday.
The Beavers carded a 7-over 295 for the second-straight day at the par-72, 6,543-yard Papago Golf Course and sit in eighth place with 18 holes to play with a 14-over 590.
The 17-team field includes 12 teams ranked in the latest Golfstat.com Top 50 national rankings.
The final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com. Oregon State will start on the first hole at 7:30 a.m. and be paired with Kansas and Michigan State.
Gomez had three birdies, 14 pars and a double bogey for her sub-par round and moved 12 spots up the leaderboard and into a tie for 10th place with an even-par 73-71-144.
She now has 12 rounds in red figures in three-plus years as a Beaver. Gomez has two career Top 10 finishes, including a collegiate best tie for sixth place at the Silverado Showdown last spring.
Amanda Minni had one birdie and four bogeys in the second round and is tied for 32nd place with a 3-over 72-75--147. She dropped in three birdies in the even-par 72 in the opening round.
Danique Stokmans improved her middle round score by a stroke and is tied for 43rd place with a 5-over 75-74. Kelsey Webster is one back of Stokmans and tied for 47th place with a 6-over 75-75--150. Both players have four birdies through the first 36 holes of the tourney.
Madde Sund knocked five strokes off her first round score and is tied for 88th place with a 15-over 82-77--159.
Northwestern (12-under 564) has an eight-stroke lead over Arizona State (4-under 572) for the team title, while Kelly Sim of Northwestern and Julia Lopez Ramirez of Mississippi State share the individual lead with a 7-under 137.
