Kyle Dernedde and Brady Kasper each drove in two runs in 1-for-4 efforts to pace Oregon State to an 8-7 win over Minnesota Saturday in Surprise. Ryan Brown shut the door on the Golden Gophers after Minnesota scored five in the seven to pull within one. Gavin Turley, Garret Forrester and Micah McDowell all drove in runs via sac flies to pace the Beavers, who won their ninth straight over Minnesota. Oregon State has also now won 12 straight over Big Ten Conference foes since 2017.

• Oregon State is in a re-match with New Mexico, whom the Beavers dropped a 7-2 decision to in the season opener on Friday.
• The loss to the Lobos snapped Oregon State's win streak in the series at nine. OSU now owns a 16-5 all-time record in the series, including a 13-4 mark in neutral-site contests.
• The seven runs scored by the Lobos marked New Mexico's most versus OSU since 2015.
• Mitch Canham needs nine victories to reach 100 leading Oregon State.
• The Beavers return an All-American from 2022, Ben Ferrer, and three Freshmen All-Americans: Travis Bazzana, Jacob Kmatz and Ryan Brown. The Beavers lost All-Americans Cooper Hjerpe, Justin Boyd and Jacob Melton, who were all selected in the first two rounds of the MLB Draft.
• The Beavers are opening the season in Surprise for the eighth consecutive year. OSU also opened there in 2004 and 2006.
