
Record-Breaking Days for Scatena and Bahn Highlight Friday in ABQ

SEATTLE and ALBEQUERQUE – Adael Scatena and Delaney Bahn set school records in the 200 meters and long jump in a standout day at the Don Kirby Classic.

Scatena struck first with a time of 24.54 in the 200 meters, knocking .4 seconds off her previous best. Then, Bahn recorded a 20-1.5 leap in the long jump, outpacing her previous long by nine inches. With two more records downed on Friday, the 2023 Beavs have set five new indoor track and field records.

In addition to Scatena's record-breaking race, the Beavs had two more personal records in the 200 meters. Taylor Weidinger tied her PR, set two weeks ago at the Razorback Invite, with a 25.10 and Treasure Rinaldi recorded a 25.82, the freshman's first collegiate race under 26 seconds.

In the high jump, Grace Proudfoot inched out her previous best with a 1.57m/5-1.75 leap. Emma Nelson finished eighth with a 1.72m/5-7.75.

In Seattle, the Beavs had a mostly distance-filled day with 10 runners in the 3,000 meters along with Keely McLaughlin in the weight throw (15.67m/51-5). Grace Fetherstonhaugh and Kaylee Mitchell led the effort in the 3K with eighth and 13th place finishes respectively. Eimy Martinez recorded a PR of 9:42.49 and Liv Downing edged out her previous top time by .1 seconds with a 10:10.10.
