
Oregon State Opens Maui Classic with Victory

MAKAWAO, Hawai'i – Oregon State opened its time at the Maui Classic with a 92-69 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday night.

Talia von Oelhoffen was the highlight of the evening, scoring her 1,000th career point in front of myriad friends and family on Maui. The Beavers visited the von Oelhoffen family on Sunday for a luau and many of the family were on hand to witness the junior hit the milestone.

Three Beavers finished in double figures with von Oelhoffen finishing with 18 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists. Raegan Beers led the team in scoring with 19 points and nearly missed a double-double with nine rebounds.

AJ Marotte rounded out the double-figure Beavers with 17 points, making 6-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range.

Oregon State got off to a slow start but followed it with a big response. Down 10-4, the Beavers went on a 24-2 run spanning the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second. Beers scored nine in the run with von Oelhoffen adding seven, including the 1,000th career point.

The Beavers shot the lights out all night, making 59.6 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from three. OSU also made 82 percent (18-of-22) of their free throws.

OSU outrebounded SLU 38-22 and finished with 14 second chance points to the Lions' eight.

The Beavers close the tournament on Wednesday, battling Texas Tech at 9:30 p.m. PT.
