Rankings are from Intermat
The Matchup
• No. 21 Oregon State and No. 7 Iowa will meet for the eighth time and first since 2012, a 22-14 win by the Hawkeyes.
• With a win, it would mark the 25th ever 4-0 start for the Beavers - the first in the Chris Pendleton era and the first since 2007-08.
• The dual with Iowa marks the second consecutive ranked matchup for the Beavs after they had a 24-13 win over then-#25 North Carolina.
B1G Tests
• Iowa is the first of two Big Ten opponents the Beavers will face this season, hosting Penn State to open the home slate in January.
• Oregon State has faced at least one Big Ten opponent in every season but one since the 2009-10 campaign. They've met Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin
Excellent Start Back East
• Oregon State swept the Carolina Duals and had four - Gabe Whisenhunt (133), Mason Reiniche [unatt.] (197), Travis Wittlake (197) and Trey Muñoz (184) - take titles at the Southeast Open in Salem, Va. to close the opening weekend.
• The Beavers' 3-0 start marks the best start to a season in the Pendleton era.
• OSU used wins in six of the last seven bouts - including from 149-to-184 - to beat the Tar Heels.
Accolades Aplenty for Whisenhunt
• Gabe Whisenhunt was named the NCAA Athlete of the Week and the Pac-12's Wrestler of the Week following the season's opening weekend. The Corvallis product stunned No. 4 - and two-time All-American - Sam Latona of Virginia Tech on the way to taking the 133-lb. crown at the Southeast Open. He jumped into polls from both Intermat and FloWrestling.
