Freshmen Pick Up Class Day Victory in Vancouver
October 29, 2023 | Men's Rowing
VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Oregon State freshmen picked up a victory on Class Day at the Portland Fall Classic, knocking off the reigning champion's – this year's senior class – in an exciting day of racing on Lake Vancouver
In other races, the Beavs saw the 4+ boat coxswained by Tasmyn Adams earn first place while the two-man boat of Wayne Chapman and Ben Burtner recorded first in that race.
"It was perfect weather on Vancouver Lake for fall racing. We put together our class boats for the 8+'s races. The freshman proved to be the best. I love that. They are the future. They have come in and made an immediate impact and pulled an upset against the senior class that has won the last 3 years. There were 2 rowers that won twice today: Tamsyn Adams (the coxswain for the 8+ and the 4+) and Wayne Chapman (in the 8+ and the 2-). When you race in close lineups, that is a great accomplishment. These results indicate some lineups for next weekend at the Head of the Lake," said head coach Gabe Winkler
Up next, the Beavs head to Seattle for Head of the Lake, hosted by the University of Washington on November 6.
