
Oregon State Continues Road Swing at Wasatch Classic

CORVALLIS, Ore. –The No. 26 Oregon State gymnastics travels to take part in the inaugural Wasatch Classic hosted by the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah on Saturday, Jan. 14.
The Beavs are set to participate in the evening session with Pac-12 foe No. 3 California, No. 16 Iowa and No. 20 Pitt scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. PT.

Oregon State battled through a tough first rotation on bars to take third behind a 195.450 in Session 2 of the Super 16 Presented by Ozone at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas to open the season last weekend.
BEHIND ENEMY LINES
No. 3 California - Led by husband-and-wife duo Justin Howell and Liz Crandall-Howell, No. 3 Cal recorded their highest Road to Nationals mark in the history of the program this week, after recording the best overall score in a season-opening meet in program history. The Bears posted a 197.475, the 11th-best score in Cal lore at Session III of the Super 16 meet. Mya Lauzon won the Pac-12 Specialist of the Week Award, while Ella Cesario earned the Coaches Choice Award.
No. 16 Iowa - Head coach Larissa Libby enters her 19th as Iowa's head coach and 22nd overall with the program in 2023. She is a three-time Big Ten Coach of the Year. The Hawkeyes are ranked 16th nationally after securing the second-highest season-opening score in season history. The GymHawks posted a 196.225 to place second behind No. 3 California on Jan. 7 at the Super 16. Iowa is ranked in the top 25 in all four events as a team: No. 12 on vault, No. 16 on beam, No. 22 on floor, and No. 25 on bars.
No. 20 Pitt - Samantha Snider starts year six as the leader of the Pitt gym program. Pitt won the Keystone Classic with a score of 195.950 for a new program season-opening record, as they broke their previous home-opening record of 192.900. The Panthers swept the EAGL Weekly Awards for the first time in program history with Pitt freshman Reyna Garvey being named EAGL Rookie of the Week, sophomore Sidney Washington claiming EAGL Gymnast of the week, and sophomore Jordyn Ewing taking this week's EAGL Specialist.
