September 16, 2022 | Softball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Eric Leyba has been elevated to the position of associate head coach for the 2023 season, Oregon State head coach Laura Berg announced Friday.
Â
"I'm really excited about this promotion," said Berg. "Coach Leyba has done an incredible job with the hitters and the infield. He deserves this promotion."
Â
Going into his fifth season in Corvallis, Leyba works primarily with the hitters and infielders.
Â
The Beavers had one of the best seasons in program's history in 2022. Oregon State made their second-ever in the Women's College World Series after winning the Knoxville, Tenn. Regional and Stanford, Calif. Super Regional. The staff – including Leyba – was named NCFA Pacific Region Coaching Staff of the Year following the 39-22 season that featured a 17-game winning streak.
Â
Leyba guided a pair – Mariah Mazon and Frankie Hammoude – to All-America honors and four – Mazon, Hammoude, Kiki Escobar and Eliana Gottlieb – to All-Pac-12 honors last year ahead of the run to Oklahoma City. Â
Â
Before joining Berg's staff, he instructed student-athletes at Churchill High School, the University of Oregon and New Mexico State.
