An opportunity to play at Oregon State led to a world-class career for former Beaver women's soccer star Jodie Taylor.
The veteran striker, now with the San Diego Wave in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), has played on professionally three continents, in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups and other international competitions for the English National Team since graduating from OSU with bachelor's degrees in psychology and sociology and a minor in athletic administration in 2008.
Taylor was a dominating force at OSU. She was a freshman All-American, a four-time Pacific-10 Conference first-team all-star and a three-time all-region selection. She remains OSU's all-time leader in goals (47), points (113), shots (269), game-winning goals (18), multi-goal goals (10) and multi-assist games (6).

She was inducted into the OSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021.

Taylor is being showcased in conjunction with OSU's SEE IT, BEav ITÂ initiative, marking the 50th anniversary of Title IX. It will focus on celebrating the stories of OSU prominent women's athletes and athletics.

"Title IX set the stage for important growth, and we are grateful to all of the pioneers of women's athletics who helped create opportunities for our current generation of student-athletes," said OSU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Barnes.

"We look forward to sharing the stories of some of our outstanding past and present female student-athletes, coaches and staff members throughout the 2022-23 year."

A native of Birkenhead, England, she joined the Beavers after a stellar career with her local team, the Tranmere Rovers. After leaving OSU, she has played professionally in England, Australia, Sweden, France, Canada and in the United States.

She earned the Golden Boot (highest scorer) at the 2017 UEFA Women's Championship and was named the Vauxhall England Player of the Year in 2017 while playing for London-based Arsenal.
The Wave began play in 2022 and Taylor is expected to add veteran leadership and offensive punch.

"This is an exciting move and opportunity for my future on and off the pitch," she said. "It is extremely motivating to be joining a new franchise in an incredible city, spearheaded by such amazing women, and I look forward to being a part of building a club from the beginning."
